Under bright blue skies, officials cut the ribbon on Williamson County’s CR 200 safety project, marking the completion of the county’s 200th voter-approved road bond project! Williamson County Precinct 2 Commissioner Cynthia Long and County Judge Bill Gravell were joined by representatives from the City of Liberty Hill and road contractors to celebrate this milestone project which extends from the Capital Metro (CMTA) Railroad to CR 201, a distance of approximately one mile. On August 30, 2002, the Williamson County Commissioners Court unanimously approved the fiscal year 2022-2023 county budget and set the county tax rate. The total county tax rate for tax year 2022 is $0.375608 and is six and a half cents less than the county’s current total tax rate. This rate will decrease property taxes on the average homestead residence by approximately $100 next year. The total county budget is comprised of the General Fund, Road and Bridge Fund and Debt Service Fund. The total county budget for October 2022 through September 2023 is $505,381,808. 

The Precinct Two Commissioner's Office was contacted by constituents regarding TCEQ application for a permit for a chemical manufacturing site near County Road 236 – Permit #165848. The public hearing for this application took place on June 16, 2022, which was also the date that the public comment period ended.  TCEQ permit writers and a staff attorney are currently reviewing all comments and will mail the decision document, along with a cover letter to all that submitted public comments.  The cover letter will provide information on how to request a contested case hearing if you oppose the TCEQ decision. The Precinct Two Commissioner's Office has been contacted by constituents that are concerned with an application to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regarding Permit 169044L001 which would allow a rock crushing operation on County Road 285 near Liberty Hill.  Constituents calling our office have voiced concerns that this facility would create traffic safety problems on the county road; impact water, which is provided to families through wells; and negatively impact air quality.  Air quality is the only parameter by law that TCEQ is allowed to review.  My office has called TCEQ, and a public hearing date has not been set yet, but one has been requested.  All who have submitted comments will be added to the mailing list and will receive information on the time, date and location of the public hearing.  TCEQ expects to have a location that is in close proximity to the site to help facilitate the attendance of those that would like to participate.
