On Tuesday, Jan. 31, the Arbor Place HOA board members and residents listened to Commissioner Cook speak on several topics of interest regarding the county, including construction on RR620. Members of the Board are Joe Vining, President; Richard Hallum, Vice President; Sharon Woodul, Secretary; Jim Reinhardt, Treasurer; Shane Wailes, Member.

As we begin the new year after holidays marked by indulging our pallets, many of us rush to the gym to get back in shape. In Williamson County, we have other opportunities that can help us shed pounds, reduce stress and enjoy the outdoors.

You don’t have to go far from your doorstep to find an array of federal, county, city and Municipal Utility District parks, trails and open spaces. Through collaboration and cooperative partnerships, Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is working on long-range plans to connect trails and provide enough open space and facilities to meet the ongoing population growth and demand for these amenities.

On Monday, Jan. 29, Commissioner Cook spoke at the Highland Horizon Annual HOA meeting on topics ranging from road issues to flooding. During her presentation, she invited the residents to let her know if they were interested in the FEMA Map that can be found at https://gis.wilco.org/maps/?viewer=study.

Laurie Golding and Steven Rundell were sworn in by Commissioner Cook as re-appointed members of the Williamson County Emergency Services District (ESD) No. 1 Board of Directors on January 17, 2018, at the Jollyville Fire Dept. at 9218 Anderson Mill Road in Austin.

Commissioner Cook joined county and city officials at the Jan. 24, 2018, groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter in Georgetown. Also at the event were Cheryl Schneider, director of Animal Services for the shelter; Daron Butler, president of the WCRAS Governing Board; and several staff and volunteers.
