The Williamson County Tax Assessor/Collector’s office will be instituting new hours of operation effective February 6, 2017. In order to reduce comp time and better serve the public, the Tax Assessor/Collector’s office will implement the following hours of operation:
Hours of Operation:
Monday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. 
Tuesday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Locations: 
Georgetown – 904 South Main 
Round Rock – 1801 East Old Settlers Blvd. Suite 115 
Cedar Park – 350 Discovery Blvd, Suite 101

On a warm January 2, 2017, morning, Terry Cook proudly took the oath of office at 10:51 a.m. to become Williamson County Commissioner of Precinct 1. About fifty of her supporters cheered her on in a standing-room only courtroom that overflowed with visitors into the balcony and hallway. Commissioner Cook was one of thirteen elected officials who were sworn in at the Williamson County Historic Courthouse on the second floor in the 26th District Court in Georgetown.

Williamson County Emergency Medical Services will be working in conjunction with Austin-Travis County EMS to conduct a child car safety and booster seat fitting event for area residents from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 2. The safety seat check will take place at the Leander Fire Station 1, 201 North Brushy Street, in Leander. The inspection event is offered at no cost to participants and is available by appointment only. Please call 512-943-1264 to schedule an appointment.

The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Williamson County near the community of Walburg, Texas. Eyewitness reports of the tornado were made to the Williamson County 911 Center at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 13. County emergency service agencies responded to the reports to determine the extent of the damages.

The Williamson County Office of Emergency Management reports that “several homes sustained minor to moderate roof damage and one section of the roof of a local business was ripped away, strewing insulation debris for approximately one mile.”

No reports of injuries have been received at this time.
