Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that is spreading from person to person in parts of the United States. The risk of infection with COVID-19 is higher for people who are close contacts of someone known to have COVID-19, for example healthcare workers, or household members. Other people at higher risk for infection are those who live in or have recently been in an area with an ongoing spread of COVID-19.

Williamson County & Cities Health District is closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation in coordination with the Texas Department of State Health Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and local and regional public health and healthcare agencies.

Williamson County and Family Emergency Room Announce Improved Service for Offer COVID-19 Testing

Williamson County and Family Emergency Room announced an improved contract to provide better COVID-19 testing services.  Testing is available for all.  The charges for COVID-19 tests are currently covered by most insurance companies, and Family Emergency Room will bill the patient's insurance company at no cost to the patient.  Tests for any Williamson County resident without insurance will be paid for by the county.  The renewed partnership is a continuation of hard work between the two entities to make testing more accessible.

“Williamson County is grateful to the team at Family Emergency Room for continuing to partner with the County to provide COVID testing to our community.  Dr. Henry Higgins and his colleagues have stepped up and met a huge need in the community for COVID testing,” said Williamson County Precinct 2 Commissioner Cynthia Long.

Under the improved contract, Family Emergency Room will provide a seamless scheduling process. This improvement will ensure that residents no longer need to wait for a call back to schedule an appointment. The agreement also allows for additional Family Emergency Room sites to be utilized. Residents can count on drive-thru style testing at the two Family Emergency Room locations in Cedar Park, one located on Whitestone Boulevard and the other on Lakeline Boulevard, and at their Round Rock facility on A.W. Grimes Boulevard. In the near future, Family Emergency Room is planning to provide testing at additional Williamson County facilities.

“Family Emergency Room is pleased to partner with Williamson County to continue to provide COVID testing for our community.  With expanded testing locations at Whitestone, Lakeline, and Round Rock; and a more streamlined registration system, it is our hope to provide efficient, person-centered care to the residents of Williamson County,” said CEO of Family Emergency Room Dr. Henry Higgins.

Due to high demand, testing is being prioritized for symptomatic individuals; however, asymptomatic and antibody testing is also available for a fee and is being scheduled within a five to eight day period.
