Williamson County has made the adopted precinct redistricting map for commissioners, justices of the peace and constables available on our website. Follow this link to view the maps.  www.wilco.org/redistricting2021. A special called meeting of the Commissioners Court will be held Friday, Nov. 12, at 11 a.m. to approve a resolution and the metes and bounds reflected in the adopted map. The Commissioners Court also will conduct the canvass of election returns for the Nov. 2 election at the special called meeting on Nov. 12. The timeline for undertaking redistricting in Texas was very compressed this year due to delays in the U.S. Census Bureau releasing 2020 Census data to the states for redistricting purposes. The State of Texas completed their process of drawing Congressional, State Board of Education, State Senate and State Representative maps when the Governor signed the maps passed by the Legislature on October 25. These maps were necessary to draw the county’s map. On Nov. 1, the Texas Secretary of State’s Office advised counties that their maps must be voted on by commissioners courts no later than Nov. 13, 2021. The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved the redistricting map at their meeting on Nov. 9, 2021.

Maps for the voter precincts are not required to be completed by the Nov. 13 deadline.  They will be proposed and voted on by the Commissioners Court in December. In order to meet deadlines associated with the March 1, 2022, primary election, all commissioners courts must order changes to boundary lines of voter precincts no later than Dec. 30, 2021.

The redistricting map is effective Jan. 1, 2022, for 2022 elections and Jan. 1, 2023, for representation.
