County Offices Closed July 4 for Independence Day

Williamson County offices will be closed Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in observance of Independence Day. All county operations will resume on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. While county offices are closed, residents may utilize online services that are offered by various departments at www.wilco.org.

There is no Commissioners Court meeting on Tuesday, July 4, or Tuesday, July 11. The next Commissioners Court meeting will take place Monday, July 10, at 8:30 a.m., inside the historic courthouse, 710 S. Main Street in Georgetown.

Williamson County parks will be open to the public throughout the holiday weekend. The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, 1855 S. E. Inner Loop in Georgetown, will be open from noon to 4 p.m. The animal shelter is offering free adoptions for all dogs, cats and other small adoptable pets from June 30 to July 4. To view adoptable pets, visit www.wilcopets.org.

The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter cautions that some pets can become frightened by the loud noise of fireworks. Below are some tips to help your pets through their anxiety.
1. Keep your pet inside.
2. Have music or the TV on.
3. Have a safe place for them to hide if they choose.
4. For dogs, give them a Kong or other chew toy.
5. Thundershirts, Rescue Remedy drops and other calming items may help as well.
6. If the anxiety is severe, check with a veterinarian for medication that may help.
