The WCRAS is the only shelter solely devoted to the lost and abandoned animals of Round Rock, Cedar Park, Hutto, Leander and Williamson County.

The existing 15,000 square foot animal shelter opened March 14, 2007, with 85 kennels for canines and 93 feline habitats. Completion date for the expansion is anticipated to be in spring 2019. The expansion will feature a 16,970-square-foot, two-story addition with a public lobby, administration office, 64 new canine kennels (total 149) and 93 new feline kennels (186 total). The renovations will also include two cat colony rooms, an exercise yard for dogs, a new surgery area and surgical prep rooms. The shelter will remain open during the expansion.
