Cite and Release

For certain non-violent misdemeanor offenses, a peace officer may issue a field release citation in lieu of making an arrest. The citation will contain written notice of the time and place the person must appear before a magistrate.

What do I do if I am issued a citation?

On the appearance date noted on your citation, appear at the Williamson County Justice Center located at 405 Martin Luther King Jr St in Georgetown, TX. Upon arrival, you will be in the custody of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. An officer will complete the booking process at the Justice Center in lieu of the jail. The Magistrate Judge will inform you of your rights, the charge, and set bail. You will then be provided with your next court date and released.
