Description

The Corridor I2 project consists of a corridor study for a new expressway between US 183 to SH 29 in Burnet County. The improvements would potentially include an interchange at US 183 and a major arterial connecting the expressway to SH 29 near the Williamson/Burnet County Line.
The
County's
Long-Range Transportation Plan is a conceptual plan
that identifies future connections approximately five miles apart from each
other to ensure the County can maintain a high level of safety and mobility as
growth occurs. As studies and projects are prioritized, and
funding becomes available, engineers are hired to evaluate the most
reasonable and feasible locations of these future roadways. This study is to
determine the future connection between US 183 and SH 29. At the beginning
of this evaluation process, a study area is established to determine environmental
constraints such as homes, floodplains, and cemeteries. At this point in the
study, the engineers have begun looking at environmental constraints and
conducting an engineering analysis in this study area to identify alternatives.
We will then hold meetings with potentially affected property owners before
final decisions are made.
