Sherry Golden, Williamson County’s Veterans Service Officer, was presented with the Regional Outstanding Service Officer of the Year Award for 2018-2019 for the Central Texas Region. Mrs. Golden was presented the award during Tuesday’s Commissioners Court meeting by Tom Belton, president of the Veterans County Service Officers Association of Texas and director of Veteran Services for Tarrant County. The award is given in recognition of outstanding service to the veterans of Texas as voted on by fellow veterans service officers from across Texas.

Tom Belton was formerly an assistant veterans service officer in Williamson County when Sherry Golden started as a receptionist in that office.

“She has blossomed into an amazing veterans service officer and an amazing director, and that has not gone unseen,” said Mr. Belton.

“It is impressive to me that someone can start as a receptionist in an office and with good training, good education, and good support from this court, can lead that office to not only to be a model in Williamson County, but a model in Texas. Our veterans are made better because of your service,” said County Judge Bill Gravell.
