County Judge Bill Gravell has lifted the burn ban for unincorporated areas of Williamson County effective Friday, October 28, 2022, at 2 p.m. A copy of the signed order lifting the burn ban can be found here.

The Williamson County Commissioners Court has issued a county-wide burn ban for a period not to exceed 90 days due to severe drought conditions, above-average heat, low humidity, low fuel moistures and high winds that are creating dangerous wildfire conditions that would be exacerbated by outdoor burning. The order can be lifted by the County Judge if conditions improve. For additional restrictions, requirements and details relating to the Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning, the Order may be viewed here.   

Williamson County is one of 77 Texas counties that fall under the federal Texas Severe Winter Storms disaster declaration. County Judge Bill Gravell has terminated our local disaster declaration as we are now covered under the federal declaration. Residents who sustained damage from snow and ice during the winter storms may apply for federal assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). If you have insurance, contact your insurance company first, and then FEMA. Your insurance claim information is needed to determine eligibility for federal assistance. Apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov or call 800-621-3362 or TTY 800-462-7585. The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance has been extended to May 20. Governor Greg Abbott announced a statewide effort to collect damage assessment data for this unprecedented winter storm event. This information is being collected to help officials across the state gain an understanding of damages for individuals throughout Texas.
