WilCo Parks Department Celebrates 15 Years

The Williamson County Parks Department reached a milestone in March, celebrating 15 years of providing parks, trails and open spaces to the residents of Williamson County. The Parks Department invites the public to help celebrate their 15th anniversary by sharing photos from County parks and trails. Park lovers are invited to post a photo to Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #WilCoParks15. The County will select some photos to share on its @wilcogov Facebook and Twitter pages. Volunteer at WilCo Parks on MLK Day

County offices will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2018, for Martin Luther King Day. The United Way of Williamson County is encouraging residents to mark the holiday by volunteering for their annual Day of Service. Williamson County offers volunteers the opportunity to participate in park improvement projects at the Southwest Williamson County Regional Park, 3005 CR 175, Leander, and Berry Springs Park and Preserve, 1801 CR 152, Georgetown. More than 185,000 volunteers are anticipated to impact more than 50,000 persons during the national day of service. Join local efforts by volunteering at www.unitedway-wc.org, or click here.

Grand Opening for WilCo Tennis Center Nov. 4
Brie Rippner of Rippner Tennis was announced as the new tennis pro and manager of the Tennis Center at the Southwest Williamson County Regional Park, 3005 C.R. 175, Leander, Texas, effective October 1, 2017. The public is invited to a grand opening of Rippner Tennis on Saturday, November 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. The event includes refreshments, clinics, doubles mixes, and a pro exhibition. For juniors, there will be clinics and junior play all day.

Run Along Brushy Creek Regional Trail at Alan's Hope 5K
Alan’s Hope is hosting the Alan’s Hope Guitars for HOPE 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, September 16, at 8 a.m., at the Brushy Creek Lake Park, 3300 Brushy Creek Road, in Cedar Park. The event is held in support of National Suicide Prevention Week, September 10 to 16, 2017. The 5K run/walk will feature music along the route on the Brushy Creek Regional Trail and remembrance ribbons for people to wear in honor of those they have lost to suicide. Register online at www.AlansHope.eventbrite.com or the morning of the event starting at 7:15 a.m. for a donation of $15 to cover the cost of the event and t-shirts.

"Leave No Trace for Williamson County Preserves" Training July 31
The Williamson County Conservation Foundation is offering another “Leave No Trace for Williamson County Preserves” training for people who want to access County preserve areas. The next training will be held on Monday, July 31, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Williamson County Central Maintenance Facility training room, 3151 S.E. Inner Loop, in Georgetown. To reserve a spot in the class, send an email to wccf@wilco.org and include "LNT" in the subject line.
