The Round Rock Express, in partnership with Williamson County and COVID-19 testing and public health services startup Curative, are excited to announce that Dell Diamond will become a COVID-19 vaccination site beginning on Friday, March 12, with over 2,000 vaccines per day available to approved residents by appointment. Appointments are required to receive the vaccine and are only available to residents on the registered waitlist through Williamson County. Those currently qualified to be on the waitlist are front-line healthcare workers, residents at long-term care facilities, educators, residents age 65 and older and residents age 16 and older with other health-related issues that could exacerbate the effects of COVID-19. Those who qualify can register for the waitlist by visiting this page. An email will be sent with information regarding scheduling an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. 

Williamson County’s volunteer-run Vaccine Registration Technical Assistance (VRTA) centers have proven to be a positive tool to assist residents with the registration process for the COVID-19 vaccine. During the week of March 1, 2021, more than 300 people received support at a VRTA center.  

On Wednesday, March 10, Williamson County businesses will be allowed to operate at 100 percent capacity per Governor Greg Abbott’s Executive Order GA-34. Following Governor Abbott’s order,  Williamson County government buildings and facilities also will be open to the public at 100 percent capacity. There will be no additional requirements to enter buildings with the exception of the Justice Center. Governor Abbott’s order also lifted the mask mandate. The public will have the ability to choose if they wear a mask or not in county buildings with the exception of the Justice Center. Pursuant to the 36th Emergency Orders of the Texas Supreme Court, the following minimum health protocols are adopted for the Williamson County Justice Center effective March 10, 2021, until further notice.  

• Temperature checks must be taken at the door, and an individual with a temperature above 99.6ºF will not be able to enter the building.
• Masks are required for entry to, and should be worn at all times in, the Justice Center, including in courtrooms and public spaces (except when alone in a space); and
• Social distancing is required while at the building.

Drive-thru vaccination sites are the most efficient way to vaccinate the greatest number of people in a day; however, Williamson County and its partners also are working on reaching smaller groups that fall in the state’s priority list of Phase 1a and 1b. In order to help the most vulnerable in the community receive the vaccine, this week the County began using special teams to vaccinate people who have a difficult time going to a drive-thru location. Residents in the state’s Phase 1a and 1b groups that want to receive the vaccine can register on the County’s centralized waitlist at  www.wilco.org/coronavirus. 

Family Hospital Systems will hold a 24-hour vaccination hub to begin on Saturday, March 6 at 8 a.m., and end on Sunday, March 7 at 8 a.m. at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex in Austin.  This one-of-a-kind event is designed to increase vaccination awareness while encouraging residents to kick COVID-19 out of Williamson County.  Vax-A-Thon will only be open to eligible people in Categories 1A and 1B who register with FHS to receive the vaccine.  Participants will be taken from the Williamson County waitlist and will receive an email invitation to register for their vaccine appointment.  The public is advised that no vaccines will be administered to those without an appointment.
