New Canine Corral Provides Space for Dogs During Construction

The dogs of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) have moved to a temporary shelter in the old Georgetown Livestock Show Barn located in San Gabriel Park at 425 E Morrow Street. The show barn, nicknamed the "Canine Corral," has an adoption lobby, adoption kennels, an intake area for lost dogs and owner surrenders (by appointment), and an area for animal health technicians to care for the dogs. Housing the dogs in a temporary shelter will save the Williamson County taxpayers $500,000 in building costs and cut six months of construction time, according to shelter officials. The dogs will be located here for approximately the next six months. Even though this location is in the heart of Georgetown, the shelter’s services will continue to be devoted to the residents of Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Hutto, and Williamson County. Residents in the city limits of Georgetown will continue to utilize the services of the Georgetown Animal Shelter, 110 W L Walden Dr., Georgetown, TX. All cats will stay at the main shelter location on 1855 S.E. Inner Loop. The Canine Corral is open the same hours as the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. To view adoptable dogs, click here.
