Animal Shelter Celebrates 10 Years of Service
Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) is celebrating its 10th anniversary of serving the animals. On March 14, 2007, WCRAS opened its doors to the lost and abandoned animals of Round Rock, Hutto, Leander, Cedar Park, and Williamson County. So WCRAS staff can celebrate the shelter’s successes, the shelter will close one hour early at 5 p.m. on March 14.

The tenth anniversary traditionally is considered tin, so for ten days from March 10 to 19, WCRAS is going to “shake the can” to raise funds or cans of dog and cat food for the shelter and encourages friends and fans to do the same. Then on March 19, from 1 to 3 p.m., the shelter will host a 10th Anniversary party. The public is invited to attend and learn about the shelter, volunteering, and fostering, and they will collect any donations that have been raised. Donations for the animals or for the expansion fund will be accepted.
Also in celebration of the 10th Anniversary, beginning on March 13th the shelter will have $10 adoptions for all adult dogs and cats. This adoption special will run through March 19th. (Puppies and kittens will be $75 to adopt.)

Cheryl Schneider, Williamson County animal services director, is appreciative of the community‘s support for the past ten years. “It is with our community members, our volunteers, fosters, staff, donors, adopters and supporters that we have reached such milestones as serving the animals for 10 years and serving the animals with a no-kill status for the past 6 years. We are looking forward to what the future holds.”
The shelter has many events planned to celebrate their decade of service and “shake the can” so they can continue to function with the same high level of lifesaving in the future.

Events:

- Starting March 13th, visit the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter in person or their Facebook page at http://facebook.com/WilliamsonCountyAnimalShelter to request an auto or home insurance quote from Liberty Mutual. For every quote, Liberty Mutual will donate $10 to the expansion of the shelter.

- The shelter will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14th, so the staff can celebrate the shelter’s successes.

- From March 13th – 19th, adult dogs and cats will only be $10 to adopt.

- Starting March 15th, the shelter will be selling limited edition 10th anniversary T-shirts at the shelter. Each T-shirt is a $15 donation to the expansion of the shelter.
