Understanding Mask Mandates in Williamson County

The Williamson County Attorney's Office has received questions and concerns about our local children and the use of masks in schools. This is a time-sensitive concern because primary schools start back soon. Currently, Governor Abbott has issued an executive order stating masks cannot be mandated in schools, among other places. The Governor's order is the law until such time as the legal process used to challenge the Governor's authority has been exhausted. Williamson County Budget and Tax Rate Public Hearings August 31

How does Williamson County form its budget for the year? Follow along this month as the budget goes from recommended to modified to approved! The Commissioners Court accepted the recommended budget from the Budget Office on August 3. At the end of the month, public hearings on the budget and tax rate will be held to officially adopt the budget.

How do you give input on the budget and tax rate? Each Tuesday, the Commissioners Court meets at 9:30 a.m. in the historic courthouse, 710 S. Main Street, in Georgetown. The meeting offers a public comment period for open comment from those who sign up ten minutes prior to the start of the meeting. In addition, the budget public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, August 31, at 10 a.m. A public hearing on the tax rate will be held during that same meeting at 10:15 a.m. To view the notice of public hearing on the tax rate, click here. To view the Notice About 2021 Tax Rates, click here. See details about the budget and the tax rate here. Have a few questions? Read through our FAQs on the budget.
