    Notice of Meeting of the Fire Commissioners of Williamson County Emergency Services District #8

    The Board of Fire Commissioners of Williamson County Emergency Services District #8 will meet on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 6:00p.m. at 3500 D B Wood Road, Public Safety Operations and Training Center, Georgetown, Texas.     Williamson County Emergency Services District #8 Board Members: Bobby Bunte, Bennie Piper, Troy Rodriguez and Ira Wood.

    Call to Order

    Board may, at any time, recess the Regular Session to convene in Executive Session at the request of the Chair, Board Member, or legal counsel for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Chapter 551, and are subject to action in the Regular Session that follows.

    1. Public Comment.
    2. Consideration and possible action to approve the minutes from the Regular Session Meeting held on January 15, 2020.
    3. Presentation of the monthly Treasurer’s report and payment of bills by Ron Barrick.
    4. Reconstitution of the Board.
    5. Discussion and possible action to determine if there is support or interest in serving some unincorporated areas outside of Leander.
    6. Monthly presentation, report(s) and updates by City of Georgetown Fire Chief John Sullivan.

    I, Nancy Rangel, do hereby certify that this Notice of Meeting was posted on the ESD8 website, a place readily accessible to the general public at all times and with the County Clerk’s Office on the 14th day of January at 3:00 p.m. and remained posted for at least 72 continuous hours, preceding the scheduled time of said meeting.

Stop the Bleed Course Offered Nov. 3

Williamson County EMS and St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center Trauma Department are offering a Stop the Bleed course on Saturday, November 3. The class begins at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at noon at the St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, 2400 Round Rock Avenue. The course teaches how to control life-threatening bleeding including tourniquet application, applying direct pressure and wound packing to assist someone in need.

Taylor Tax Office Adopts New Hours

The Williamson County Tax Assessor/Collector's office in Taylor, 412 Vance Street, will be instituting new hours of operation effective today, October 29, 2018.  In order to better serve the public and reduce compensatory time, the Tax Assessor/Collector's Office will implement the following hours of operation:

Monday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This change adjusts the business hours of the Tax Office in Taylor so they are in line with the other three Tax Assessor/Collector offices which have used this operating schedule since February 2017.

Williamson County Issues Disaster Declaration

Williamson County Judge Dan A. Gattis issued a proclamation declaring a state of disaster for Williamson County on October 22, 2018, resulting from continued severe weather, flash flooding, and potable water outages that occurred on or about October 15, 2018. The state of disaster shall continue for not more than seven days unless continued or renewed by the Commissioners Court. A copy of the disaster declaration can be found here

Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter joins the ranks of shelters in using facial recognition technology to identify lost dogs and cats. This shelter now offers their community an additional tool to help lost and adoptable dogs and cats find their forever home. Now every dog and cat that enters the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter’s system becomes registered on Finding Rover.
