Commissioner Cook and Garry Brown, her executive assistant, toured a number of nature preserves in the care of the Williamson County Conservation Foundation (WCCF) with Gary Boyd, environmental coordinator for the WCCF, which was established in December 2002, to provide conservation of endangered species in the county while helping to promote responsible development. Williamson County is one of the fastest growing counties in the country, and that rapid growth necessitates a regional approach to balancing development needs with those of conservation.

This project is designed to improve mobility, safety and connectivity for all modes of transportation along and across I-35. The project includes:

  • Reconstructing the Old Settlers Boulevard bridge over I-35, including building new U-turn bridges.
  • Improving the north and southbound I-35 frontage roads at Old Settlers Boulevard.
  • Adding new and upgraded bicycle and pedestrian accommodations.

Construction of the $12.4 million enhancement project is anticipated to be complete in the spring of 2019, weather permitting.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is asking for our patience while these much-needed improvements are constructed. TxDot also says that Construction projects can be disruptive, so they are doing their best to be a good neighbor while the improvements are being implemented.

Please read the project fact sheet and FAQ's with more information, or you can visit the project website to learn more and to sign-up for construction alerts at https://my35construction.org/
