Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that is spreading from person to person in parts of the United States. The risk of infection with COVID-19 is higher for people who are close contacts of someone known to have COVID-19, for example healthcare workers, or household members. Other people at higher risk for infection are those who live in or have recently been in an area with an ongoing spread of COVID-19.

Williamson County Receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

Williamson County is the recipient of the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This is the eleventh consecutive year Williamson County has received this award which reflects the commitment of the County and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.

In order to receive the budget award, Williamson County had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.  These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as:

  • A policy document
  • A financial plan
  • An operations guide
  • A communications device

Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.

Budget Officer Ashlie Holladay stated, “Transparency in county government has never been more important than it is now. With unprecedented growth, rising housing markets and continuous infrastructure needs, our taxpayers demand accountability, rightfully so.  This document is a testament to that and strives to provide financial reassurance to our residents that they deserve.  Our goal is to make all budget information easily accessible to the public through our budget website and to communicate our financial plan as it is now and what we expect for the future.  We are extremely thankful for the support of our Commissioners Court and county leaders who partner with us in establishing a fiscally responsible budget. Without this partnership, we could not have received this distinguished award for eleven straight years.”

All budget information is available on the www.wilco.org site under Departments and Budget Office to include overviews, timelines as well as a Citizens’ Corner designed to deliver accountability and confidence at every level.

The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving over 17,600 government finance professionals throughout North America.  The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
