Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Robert Moss as the new manager who will lead operations at River Ranch County Park. Moss’s first day on the job is Friday, July 24.  

This is not Moss’ first time getting a brand new park facility up and running. In the past, he has played an integral role in turning raw pieces of land into developed park sites. 

“Being able to join the Williamson County Parks Department as the new manager for River Ranch County Park gives me an opportunity to use my years of experience to bring this magnificent piece of land to life in a way that everyone will be able to enjoy,” said Moss. “This has been my profession my whole life, and it truly gives me purpose every day.”  

Moss’s experience in the parks and recreation field spans more than 25 years. He began his career in 1983 as the lead park ranger at Mustang Island State Park, located in Corpus Christi. He moved on to managerial positions with other state parks, such as Pedernales Falls and Huntsville state parks, before he landed the role as director of State Parks Customer Services. In this position, he was responsible for the oversight and management responsibilities for the Customer Contact Center. In 2004, Moss took his experience to serve as director of the Facilities Management Program for the State Parks Division of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. He was responsible for the coordination of both professional and technical support for construction, maintenance, and repair programs to more than 100 state parks. Most recently, Moss held the position of parks director for the City of Marble Falls. He was the city’s first parks director and was instrumental in building the department from the ground up.    

Moss’s widespread expertise in both city and state departments will be an asset for the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department as they prepare for the launch of River Ranch County Park later this year. His ability to lead and find innovative ways to grow the park’s programs will be fundamental to kicking-off the new county park.  

“When the gates open, I am confident that the community will be proud of this beautiful natural area on the San Gabriel River and will enjoy the miles of trails, the 1,300 acres of open space, and the cool waters of the river for years to come,” added Moss.
