Family Emergency Room LLC to Provide Expanded COVID-19 Testing

Williamson County has expanded its COVID-19 testing capabilities adding additional sites through a partnership with Family Emergency Room. The Williamson County Commissioners Court agreed to provide an expanded number of tests and personal protection equipment (PPE) to Family Emergency Room which will be administering the testing services at no cost to the county or the public. To be tested, residents of Williamson County register online on the county’s website. The COVID-19 test is for both people who are experiencing symptoms and those who are not. It is not an antibody test and is available only for Williamson County residents. In addition, the Williamson County and Cities Health District offers one free testing site for people with COVID-19 symptoms. To access their site, click here

In accordance with Governor Abbott’s request to expand COVID-19 testing throughout Texas, Family Emergency Room is pleased to assist Williamson County in expanding testing in Cedar Park and Round Rock.

On April 27, the Williamson County Commissioners Court agreed to provide an expanded number of tests and personal protection equipment (PPE) to Family Emergency Room which will be administering the testing services at no cost to the county or the public. To be tested, residents of Williamson County access a new online screening tool on the county’s website. The screening tool is designed to ensure that tests are prioritized for those who most need them.  Williamson County residents can then be tested at either 3620 E. Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park; or 1925 A.W. Grimes Blvd, Round Rock. Residents first be assessed at www.wilco.org/coronavirus.

“I am pleased that through this public-private partnership, we are able to expand our testing capabilities for Williamson County residents,” said County Judge Bill Gravell. “With several locations around the county offering free tests for people exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, we will be better able to detect and isolate positive cases, limiting the spread of the disease.”

Dr. Henry Higgins, CEO of Family Emergency Room, is honored to be a part of the county’s initiative.  “As a trusted community resource, Family Emergency Room is prepared to do its part to help combat this virus.  Our mission is to treat our patients like our family, and we know we do our best when we serve our patients well.  We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our community during this historic time.”

Family Emergency Room has six locations throughout Greater Austin, including Cedar Park and Round Rock.  The Brushy Creek location is a fully operational hospital, complete with trauma and injury care, onsite imaging and lab processing, and 24/7 Certified Impact Concussion Center.  Family Emergency Room is a longtime trusted community partner, having previously volunteered services in sports medicine and providing health screenings.
