As temperatures continue to rise in Texas, many will head to lakes, beaches and pools to cool off this summer. Williamson County EMS would like to remind Texans to keep a close eye on children around water as drowning can happen in as little as 20 to 60 seconds in any amount of water. Williamson County EMS would like to remind residents of the following safety guidelines recommended by the National Drowning Prevention Alliance.

Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter Maintained No-Kill in 2022

Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, the only shelter solely devoted to the lost and homeless pets of Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Hutto and the unincorporated areas of Williamson County, maintained a no-kill status in 2022, according to Best Friends Animal Society’s annual data report https://bestfriends.org/no-kill-2025/animal-shelter-statistics. This means the shelter saved more than 90% of the dogs and cats that entered the shelter last year.

Williamson County officials were joined by representatives from the City of Georgetown and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to celebrate the completion of the Southwest Bypass extension as well as the completed improvements to D.B. Wood Road and SH 29 in Georgetown on Friday, June 23.
