The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) is offering free adoptions for all adoptable dogs starting Friday, May 19, through Sunday, May 21, after taking in more than 125 dogs since the start of May. The free adoption event will help make much-needed space in the already full shelter.

All adoptable dogs will be free to adopt to loving new homes – yes, all dogs. Puppies? Check! Small dogs? Yes, those too! All adoptable dogs will be free to adopt.

What should you do?

Adopters can take advantage of the Best Match Program by previewing the adoptable dogs at https://pets.wilco.org/Adopt/Dog-Adoptions. Once you find a few you like, email a caretaker at adoption@wilco.org to see who might be a great fit for your family. Then, head up to the shelter at your appointment time (or walk in at your convenience) to meet your favorites in one of the shelter’s play yards, where the dogs are the most comfortable meeting new people. If it’s a match, then head back upstairs to adopt.

All adoptions include spay or neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip that the shelter will register with your contact information, and a voucher for a free wellness exam at a participating veterinary clinic - all for free!

Not ready to commit? Take advantage of the shelter’s many fostering programs – Doggy Day Out, Weekend Getaway, or the standard foster for two weeks. The choice is yours to help the shelter make space in its current critical capacity crisis.
