Mobility has improved in the fast-growing city of Liberty Hill thanks to the completion of the southern portion of Seward Junction Loop. A ribbon cutting was held today, officially opening the 2.9-mile-long project to drivers.

The project is made up of different safety and mobility improvement projects which include:    

•        New roadway on the southwest  

•        Realignment and improvements on the southeast   

•        Seward Junction Crossover at US 183  

•        Reconstruction of CR 260 and CR 266  

“I am pleased that we managed to improve safety along this heavily commuted area,” said Williamson County Precinct 2 Commissioner Cynthia Long. “I am confident this area of the county will continue to see new developments. Preparing for the potential growth ahead of time sets us up for success.”   

 The Seward Junction Loop offers an alternate route for drivers who want to avoid the congestion at the SH 29 and US 183 intersection. It also offers more efficient access points for commuters to connect to both of those major roadways. The project was constructed mainly from concrete pavement to be able to handle the heavy truck traffic that will likely utilize this road. This technique is expected to need less maintenance in the future compared to a roadway made from asphalt.     

Please be aware, the Morning Dove Crossover will no longer be available to commuters now that the Seward Junction Loop is available to the public.  

The project took 23 months to construct, and the construction cost was approximately $13.3 million. This was paid for with voter-approved road bonds. The engineers for this project are K Friese and Associates and Aguirre & Fields, and the contractor is Jordan Foster Construction.
