Officials from Williamson County and the city of Georgetown were joined by others to break ground on construction improvements to Westinghouse Road/CR 111 from FM 1460 to SH 130 and CR 110 from north of CR 107 to CR 111. The project will upgrade approximately 5.5 miles of existing roads by widening roads with two travel lanes, as well as shoulder and turn lanes at intersections.

This project is part of an ultimate six-lane divided urban roadway for the east-west transportation corridor of Westinghouse Road, CR 111, CR 110 and CR 105 (collectively referred to as CR 111). The project is located in both Williamson County Precincts 3 and 4.

“I am excited to kick-off the Westinghouse project. This safety and mobility project has been planned for many years, and I’m glad to see it begin,” said Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey. “This project will provide another east/west corridor for motorists and ease congestion near the Gateway School and for residents along the roadway.”

“The City is excited to have one of its 2021 Mobility Bond projects underway. We appreciate our partnership with Williamson County, on this and other projects, as we continue to see development in Georgetown,” said Georgetown Mayor Josh Schroeder.

“With the growth that we see between Georgetown and Round Rock, improvements on Westinghouse Road, in addition to affecting families and business, will give us the ability to move emergency services like ambulances and fire engines to needed locations,” said Precinct 4 Commissioner Russ Boles.

The design engineer for the project is Steger Bizzell and Capital Excavation is the contractor. The project will cost $21,024,332.88 with 34 percent being funded by the city of Georgetown and the remainder through the county’s voter-approved 2019 Road Bond. The project is expected to be completed in early 2024.
