Williamson County Census Committee Hosts Census Events

The 2020 US Census ends on September 30. Williamson County’s Census Complete Count Committee (CCC) is hosting two events in low response census tracts to encourage residents to complete the census on the final weekend of the census count.

“Williamson County has one of the best self-response rates for any county in Texas, but we need to get to a 100% response,” said Williamson County CCC chair Marissa Austin. “The census is so important in determining federal dollars that come directly to our community for schools, roads and infrastructure, and grants, as well as our representation in Washington D.C.”

The first event is on is Saturday, September 26, from 4 to 6 p.m. at La Mexicana Market, 900 E. Palm Valley in Round Rock, and is being co-sponsored by Waterloo Media.

The second event is taking place Tuesday, September 29, from 4 to 6 p.m. at La Plaza Meat Market, 2100 S. Austin Avenue in Georgetown, and is being co-sponsored by Univision. Both events will have people there to help individuals navigate the census website and complete the census.

Those who attend and complete their census form can show their proof of completion and get free Kona Ice snow cones. The Kona Ice truck is being provided through a grant from the St. David’s Foundation.
