Williamson County remains in a Flash Flood Watch until Wednesday evening. The National Weather Service predicts the rain will continue for at least the next 24 hours. Residents are asked to remain weather aware. Check for closed roads at www.atxfloods.com in the Central Texas area and check road conditions across Texas at www.drivetexas.org. Never drive through water flowing over a roadway. Turn around, don't drown.

Williamson County will hold two public hearings on the proposed tax rate of $0.476529 for fiscal year 2017-2018.  The proposed tax rate is the same as the County’s current tax rate. Both public hearings will be held in the Williamson County Historic Courthouse, 710 S. Main Street, Georgetown, in the Commissioners Courtroom on the second floor. 

First Hearing: Tuesday, August 15, 2017 10:00 a.m. 
Second Hearing: Tuesday, August 22, 2017, 10:00 a.m.

Alan’s Hope is hosting the Alan’s Hope Guitars for HOPE 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, September 16, at 8 a.m., at the Brushy Creek Lake Park, 3300 Brushy Creek Road, in Cedar Park. The event is held in support of National Suicide Prevention Week, September 10 to 16, 2017. The 5K run/walk will feature music along the route on the Brushy Creek Regional Trail and remembrance ribbons for people to wear in honor of those they have lost to suicide. Register online at www.AlansHope.eventbrite.com or the morning of the event starting at 7:15 a.m. for a donation of $15 to cover the cost of the event and t-shirts.

The Williamson County Conservation Foundation is offering another “Leave No Trace for Williamson County Preserves” training for people who want to access County preserve areas. The next training will be held on Monday, July 31, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Williamson County Central Maintenance Facility training room, 3151 S.E. Inner Loop, in Georgetown. To reserve a spot in the class, send an email to wccf@wilco.org and include "LNT" in the subject line.
