On Monday, Williamson County Commissioner Cynthia Long was unanimously elected by the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) policy board to serve as the organization’s Vice-Chair. Commissioner Long brings years of experience in transportation to the position. She has a passion for common sense transportation solutions and has championed them in Williamson County and the region. Commissioner Long has represented Williamson County on CAMPO since 2007.

CAMPO is made up of elected and citizen representatives from Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Travis and Williamson counties. The organization is responsible for long range transportation planning and allocating state and federal funds to regional transportation projects.

Williamson County officials and representatives from Santa Rita Ranch held a ceremonial ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of turn lanes on Ronald Reagan Boulevard to Santa Rita Boulevard on February 7. The project consisted of widening the pavement on Ronald Reagan Boulevard from approximately 1,000 feet south of Santa Rita Boulevard to 700 feet north of the intersection. Both left turn and right turn lanes were striped on Ronald Reagan Boulevard into Santa Rita Boulevard.

Intersection of CR 200 and SH 29

Williamson County will hold a groundbreaking for much needed improvements to the intersection of SH29 and CR 200 / Loop 332. The County led project includes adding dedicated right turn, left turn and through lanes on CR 200 at SH 29. A right turn lane from northbound SH29 onto CR 200, drainage improvements at the intersection, and a new traffic signal are also part of the project scope.

“Improving safety and mobility throughout the County is one of our highest priorities. These improvements will relieve the congestion and remove the bottleneck at this busy intersection” said County Commissioner, Cynthia Long. Mayor Rick Hall commented on the importance of this project to the City of Liberty Hill in the following statement, “The improvements to this intersection and the other improvements that the County is doing on CR200 will be very beneficial to Liberty Hill residents and all drivers in the area. I am thankful for the great partnership we have with Williamson County.”

The funds for the improvements are $1.1 million from Williamson County, $500,000 from the Texas Department of Transportation and $100,000 from the Liberty Hill Economic Development Corporation. O’Brien Engineering Services (now Jones/Carter) is the design engineer and Cox Commercial Construction is the contractor.

Williamson County and the Upper Brushy Creek WCID will hold a joint ribbon cutting on improvements to Dam 7 and the Brushy Creek Regional Trail (BCRT) around the dam. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 10 a.m. at the overlook along the trail on top of Dam 7. The event is free and open to the public. Dam 7 is located on Brushy Creek by the City of Cedar Park’s Brushy Creek Lake Park, 3300 Brushy Creek Rd, Cedar Park, Texas. Parking is available at Brushy Creek Lake Park with a shuttle available to the overlook from the eastern parking lot. The last shuttle will leave for the event at 9:45 a.m. Walking distance to the event along the BCRT is approximate 0.6 miles and 10- to 15-minute walk. Allow time to walk (if preferred along trail) and wear comfortable shoes. Please note that no restrooms are available at the ribbon cutting site; however, there are restrooms in Brushy Creek Lake Park.
