The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) Policy Board unanimously re-elected Williamson County Precinct 2 Commissioner Cynthia Long as its 2022-2023 Chair.  Commissioner Long is the first representative from Williamson County and the first woman to serve as Chair of the six-county CAMPO Board.

Williamson County held a groundbreaking yesterday to begin construction on CR 200 from CMTA Railroad to CR 201, a distance of one mile, in Liberty Hill. The project includes reconstruction of CR 200 to a two-lane roadway with safety improvements including a center turn lane and wider shoulders. Information on the project is available on the website: https://www.wilco.org/Departments/Infrastructure/Projects/Precinct-2/CR-200

May 25, 2021, the Williamson County Commissioners Court voted to increase property tax exemptions, providing tax relief to all residential homesteads in the county.  Property tax exemptions for persons 65 and older increased from $30,000 to $90,000. Property tax exemption for disabled persons increased from $20,000 to $75,000. In addition, the Commissioners Court added a homestead property tax exemption for all homeowners of 1.5% of their homestead’s assessed value or $5,000, whichever is greater. In order to qualify for the Homestead Exemption, the property owner must have owned and occupied the property as of January 1 of the tax year. Apply at www.wcad.org.

Mobility has improved in the fast-growing city of Liberty Hill thanks to the completion of the southern portion of Seward Junction Loop. A ribbon cutting was held today, officially opening the 2.9-mile-long project to drivers.

The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved resolutions recognizing the month of November as Pancreatic Cancer and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in Williamson County.  It is so important to remain vigilant in preventative healthcare and to encourage our family and friends to do the same.  With early detection, successful treatment and survival can greatly increase.
