    Learn to Fish Day is March 30

    Williamson County is hosting Learn to Fish Day in the Southwest Williamson County Regional Park, located at 3005 CR 175, Leander, Texas on Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.  Children of all ages will be able to spend time learning various fishing tips and techniques from local experts.  The Learn to Fish Day event is free and open to the public.

The Board of Fire Commissioners of Williamson County Emergency Services District #8 will meet on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 6:00p.m. at 3500 D B Wood Road, Public Safety Operations and Training Center, Georgetown, Texas. Call to Order

Board may, at any time, recess the Regular Session to convene in Executive Session at the request of the Chair, Board Member, or legal counsel for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Chapter 551, and are subject to action in the Regular Session that follows.

  1. Consideration and possible action to approve the minutes from the Regular Session Meeting held on February 20, 2019.
  2. Presentation of the monthly Treasurer’s report and payment of bills by Ron Barrick.
  3. Discussion and possible action on the sale of the Station 6 Fire Station site to the City of Georgetown and issues related to same, including but not limited to payments, Service Contract and financials related to same.
  4. Discussion and possible action on establishing members to represent them on Public Safety Commission.
  5. Development of annual calendar of recurring events.
  6. Monthly presentation, report(s) and updates by City of Georgetown Fire Chief John Sullivan.
  7. Public Comment.

Commissioner Cynthia Long Elected Vice-Chair of CAMPO

On Monday, Williamson County Commissioner Cynthia Long was unanimously elected by the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) policy board to serve as the organization’s Vice-Chair. Commissioner Long brings years of experience in transportation to the position. She has a passion for common sense transportation solutions and has championed them in Williamson County and the region. Commissioner Long has represented Williamson County on CAMPO since 2007.

CAMPO is made up of elected and citizen representatives from Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Travis and Williamson counties. The organization is responsible for long range transportation planning and allocating state and federal funds to regional transportation projects.
