Voter Registration

In Texas, citizens do not register by political party, but simply register in their county of current residence. A registration application must be submitted to the County Voter Registrar, P.O. Box 209, Georgetown, TX 78627, or delivered to the office at 301 S.E. Inner Loop, Ste. 104, Georgetown, Texas. There is a 30-day waiting period before a registration becomes effective for any election. To receive a voter registration application, you may:

Change of Address

If you are currently registered to vote in Williamson County, and have moved within the county, please make sure to change your voter registration. The best way to make a change is to use the space on the back of the voter registration certificate to indicate change(s). If you do not have your voter registration certificate, you can send us a letter indicating the change, or you may complete a voter registration application with your new information and check the "Change" box above the citizenship question. All changes should be mailed to: Williamson County Elections, P.O. Box 209, Georgetown, TX 78627, or hand delivered to the Elections Department, located at the Williamson County Inner Loop Annex, 301 S.E. Inner Loop, Ste. 104, Georgetown, Texas.

 

 


Misplaced/Lost Registration Certificate

If you’ve lost your Voter Registration Certificate you can still vote using a Texas Driver’s License or other valid form of ID.

Acceptable documents are:

  1. a driver's license or personal identification card issued to you by the Department of Public Safety or a similar document issued to you by an agency of another state, regardless of whether the license or card has expired;

  2. a form of identification containing your photograph that establishes your identity;

  3. a birth certificate or other document confirming birth that is admissible in a court of law and establishes your identity;

  4. United States citizenship papers issued to you;

  5. a United States passport issued to you;

  6. official mail addressed to you, by name, from a governmental entity;

  7. a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows your name and address; or

  8. any other form of identification prescribed by the secretary of state.

New Voter Registration Certificates are mailed out in January of every even numbered year. If you would like a replacement before then, you may complete a new Voter Registration Application and check the “Replacement” box above the citizenship question. All applications should be mailed to: Williamson County Elections, P.O. Box 209, Georgetown, TX 78627, or hand delivered to the Elections Department, located at the Williamson County Inner Loop Annex, 301 S.E. Inner Loop, Ste. 104, Georgetown, Texas.
 



Ballot by Mail

To be eligible to vote by mail in Texas, you must:

be 65 years or older;
be disabled;
be out of the county on election day and during the period for early voting by personal appearance; or
be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible.

Applications for ballot by mail must be received no earlier than the 60th day and by 5:00 pm on or before the 7th day before an election.

Election workers are needed for Early Voting, Election Day, and Central Count. This is a great way to learn about the election process, meet new people, and make extra money.

Please include your name, telephone number with area code and the best time to call, and your voter registration certificate number if available.
