ELECTIONS SCHEDULED NOV. 2

September 21, 2004 (Georgetown, TX) – Williamson County is gearing up for the General Election and two contracted elections with the City of Georgetown and the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Tuesday, November 2.

Ballots for the elections may differ for voters within the same precinct because of the contracted elections.  There are 23 county election precincts that are entirely or partly within the Capital Metro voting area with approximately 33,488 voters.  These voters will be deciding upon the operation of a fixed rail system by Capital Metro.  Sixteen precincts with approximately 24,000 registered voters fall entirely or partly in the City of Georgetown contracted election.  They will be voting on four city issues including three bond proposals.

Sample ballots by voting precinct can be found on the Williamson County web site at www.wilco.org under the Elections Department.  In two weeks, the site will be updated so that voters can enter their name and date of birth, and they will be provided with a link to their polling place with a map and another link for their official sample ballot.

The last day to register to vote in the elections is October 4.  Voter registration applications are available on-line, at libraries and post offices or call 943-1630 to have one mailed to you.  Ballots by mail can be received September 3 through October 26.  Early voting runs from October 18 to 29.
