Taylor Celebrating Community Services Day Set September 29

 

            September 21, 2004 (Georgetown, TX) – Williamson County Commissioners approved a proclamation recognizing Wednesday, September 29, 2004, as Celebrating Community Services Day in Taylor, Texas, during Commissioners Court today.  The proclamation was initiated by the Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD) and Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Judy Hobbs in honor of the grand opening celebration of the newly renovated WCCHD building in Taylor and the newly constructed Justice Court building for Precinct 4 next door.

            The celebration is from 4 to 6 p.m. at Sixth and Talbot streets in Taylor and includes a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:15 p.m.  Tours will be given of both buildings.  Information will be available on the social services available in Taylor, and there will be free refreshments and school supplies for kids.  Kids can meet mascots HEB Buddy and Spike from the Round Rock Express.

            The WCCHD building was originally constructed as the Williamson County office building in 1969 and opened for business on January 5, 1970.  Original occupants included the tax office, Human Resources Department, Health District and Precinct 4 justice of the peace, constable and commissioner. 

The remodeling of this building was done in two phases while the building was occupied.  The building is 6,240 square feet.  The architect was Moman Architects, and the contractor was Trimbuilt Construction, Inc.  The remodel was completed in nine months at a cost of $369,062.  Services now offered by WCCHD in this building include WIC, family planning, well child prenatal care services for women and children and immunizations.

            The new Justice Court building for Precinct 4 is 4,850 square feet.  The architect was Ray Gill, and the contractor was RGD Builders.  The construction took nine months to complete at a cost of $482,181.  Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
