Williamson County Purchasing Wins With Auction and
Award
September 17, 2004 (Georgetown, TX) – Williamson
County yielded one of the
highest amounts ever from an auction on August 28. Eighty-thousand dollars
was raised from the sale of everything from furniture and jewelry to bicycles
and vehicles. The auction was conducted by Gaston & Sheehan in
Pflugerville and was a combined auction with other government entities.
Proceeds were deposited into the county’s general
fund.
“We raised more money this time because we did a better job of preparation,
particularly the vehicles” stated Bob Space, Williamson
County purchasing
director. “Our Fleet Maintenance Department has been keeping maintenance
records for the vehicles and cleaning them up prior to sale. The used
vehicles made up approximately 75% of the revenue.”
Thirty-four vehicles were sold for between $200 to
$3,200.
Williamson
County will hold another
auction on Saturday, October 2, 10 a.m., at Gaston & Sheehan, 1420 Highway
685. To preview items in the auction, visit www.txauction.com. Items can be
previewed in person on October 1.
Another winning moment for the
Williamson County Purchasing Department was being awarded the 9th
Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award by the National Purchasing
Institute. This is the fifth consecutive year the Williamson County
Auditors Office has received this recognition.
