HAIRY MAN ROAD WORK CONTINUES THROUGH
OCTOBER
August 4, 2004 (Round Rock, TX) -- Williamson County will open Hairy Man Road (County Road 174)
by November 1. Heavy spring rains delayed work by the Lower Colorado River
Authority (LCRA) on a wastewater line that runs down the center of Hairy Man Road.
This line is part of a regional
wastewater collection system that consists of a 17-mile wastewater interceptor –
a large pipeline – extending from Cedar Park to the Brushy Creek Regional
Wastewater Treatment Plant adjacent to Highway 79 just east of Dell
Diamond. One of the LCRA’s primary goals with the project is to improve
water quality in Brushy Creek and protect the Edwards Aquifer. Instead of
using lift stations that are subject to failures and overflows that can cause
pollution problems, wastewater will flow by force of gravity to the Brushy Creek
plant. The collection system serves portions of Round Rock, Cedar Park, Austin and the Brushy Creek and Fern
Bluff municipal utility districts. For further information, call the LCRA
at 1-800-776-5272 ext. 2352. David Smith is the project manager and his
number is 512-845-4613.
Additionally, Round Rock is in the
planning stages of extending Creek Bend Road. This road
work will not be started until 2007. As part of that construction,
Creek Bend Road will make a “T”
connection with Hairy Man Road to the
west.
