WILLIAMSON COUNTY CENTRAL TEXAS TREATMENT CENTER

HONORED AS EXEMPLARY PROGRAM

July 12, 2004 (Granger, TX) – Williamson County’s Central Texas Treatment Center, located in Granger, Texas, recently received an Exemplary Program award.  The facility provides substance abuse treatment to adult offenders and has been operating since 1990.  Dr. Kay Baker, CTTC director, and Nana Harrison, CTTC assistant director, received the award at the Texas Corrections Association Annual Conference held in San Antonio.

“It is important for the hard working staff at this facility to be recognized for all their dedication to helping substance abusing offenders lead a more productive life,” said Rick Zinsmeyer, director of Williamson County’s CSCD Adult Probation Department,.  The center operates with a staff of approximately 35 people with capacity for 100 offenders.

The Center strives to provide cutting edge treatment and aftercare to offenders with serious chemical dependency problems.  The Center’s programming is cognitive in nature utilizing curriculum such as “Thinking for a Change,” “Moral Reconation Training,” and ‘Choose Wisely.”  The lessons focus on giving prior offenders more tools to make good decisions and remain law abiding citizens after successfully completing the program.

The facility also was ranked as the number one community corrections facility funded by Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Community Justice Assistance Division after a review of all 29 community corrections facilities last fall.  The review considered re-arrest rates within two years, successful program completion and percent of revocations.  A recent study indicated that 84.3% of residents complete the treatment program with a length of stay around 180 days.
