The mission of the Associate Judges Office of Williamson County is to uphold the United States Constitution and laws of the State of Texas in a professional, firm but fair manner. Our Judges and staff are committed to excellence in providing transparent, accessible and timely resolution of assigned cases within its jurisdiction. The Magistrate Court is dedicated to maintaining an atmosphere of respect for court users and the public at large.


This webpage is designed to provide citizens with the most current and convenient information available regarding the process and procedures utilized by the Magistrate Court of Williamson County when handling issues involving Cite and Release, Emergency Protective Orders, Ignition Interlock, initial appointment of an attorney and Personal Bonds.

The primary responsibilities of the Magistrate Court are to read the defendant their rights, determine probable cause, and issue warrants in criminal cases. The Magistrate may also set, issue and enforce bail conditions.

The Magistrate Court does not determine guilt or innocence in criminal cases.

A defendant is considered to be a person charged with a crime.

Williamson County Magistrates serve as Associate Judges at the direction of the District and County Judges of Williamson County under the Standing Referral Order Pursuant to Title 2, Subtitle D, Chapter 54A of the Government Code.
