JP 3 Office Closed May 25

The Williamson County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3, office, 301 S. E. Inner Loop in Georgetown, will be closed to the public for construction renovations on Friday, May 25. Payments can be made using the drop box located outside the office next to the Purchasing Department door or online at www.wilco.org, then click on Justice Courts and choose Precinct 3. All county offices will be closed Monday, May 28 for Memorial Day. The office will resume normal hours on Tuesday, May 29.

Early Voting Begins for Primary Elections

Early voting for the Primary Election on May 29 begins May 14. That election features choices for either Republican or Democratic candidates for county, state and federal offices. Sample ballots for this election are available on the Elections website.

JP 2 Now Accepts Online Payments

Online credit card payments are now available for the Williamson County Justice of the Peace Court Precinct 2. Only full payments are accepted, and once accepted, the case is closed and reported as a conviction. Juvenile cases are not available for online payment, nor are certain cases involving particular offenses (i.e. Alcohol Offenses by Minors). Payments will be posted to the case within 24 business hours. Access to the site is: www.wilco.org/payJP2.

Court Approves Road Bond Refinancing

Interest rates have fallen, and the Williamson County Commissioners Court is once again taking advantage of market conditions to refinance road bond debt at a lower interest rate. The Court authorized County Auditor David Flores to refinance $132 million in road bonds over the next twelve months. The County is anticipating a net interest rate of 2.45% for a savings of $9.4 million over the time of the debt.

Williamson County Lifts Burn Ban

Pct. 4 Constable Moves Office

The office of Precinct 4 Constable Marty Ruble will be moving from its current location in Taylor at 2501 Mallard Lane to the Williamson County Taylor Annex, 412 Vance Street. The office will be closed on Monday, November 7, and Tuesday, November 8, for the move and will reopen at the new location on Wednesday, November 9. The Constable will be switching offices with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office East Side Command located on the second floor of the annex, and the Sheriff’s Office will be moving to the Constable's former office on Mallard Lane.

County Extends Burn Ban 90 Days

The Williamson County Commissioners Court extended the burn ban for 90 days on October 18. The burn includes prohibiting smoking in Williamson County owned parks, preserves and trails due to the extreme drought conditions and high fire danger. Outdoor cooking is allowed as long as it is done in an enclosure that serves to contain all flames and/or sparks. The order also allows welding, cutting and grinding operations or hot works operations when they comply with specific fire safety guidelines.

Fire Victims Eligible for Federal Funds

Williamson County has been added to the list of counties eligible to receive federal funds to help people recover from the wildfires that began August 30, 2011. The Federal Disaster Declaration is for individual assistance to people who suffered a loss due to wildfires. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs.

County Prohibits Smoking in Its Parks

On September 13, the Williamson County Commissioners Court amended the burn ban that was adopted July 19, 2011, to include prohibiting smoking in Williamson County owned parks, preserves and trails due to the extreme drought conditions and high fire danger. Outdoor cooking is allowed as long as it is done in an enclosure that serves to contain all flames and/or sparks. The order also allows welding, cutting and grinding operations or hot works operations when they comply with specific fire safety guidelines. The burn ban is in effect until October 17, 2011.
