Fight the Bite

It's summer when everyone wants to spend time outdoors; however, itchy mosquito bites may be a problem in your neighborhood. The Williamson County and Cities Health District has tips to help you enjoy your summer in the great outdoors. Don’t cook up a breeding ground for mosquitoes - follow the 3Ds to keep mosquitoes away:

•    Drain: Empty standing water containers at least once per week
•    Dress: Wear long sleeves, long pants, and light-colored, loose-fitting clothing
•    Defend: Properly apply an EPA registered repellent such as DEET, picaridin, or IR 3535

TCEQ Approves County's Plan to Fill Fifth Chamber

Williamson County submitted an amendment to the previously approved Encountered Feature Mitigation Plan for the cave on Cambria Drive to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) on Thursday and received news on Friday, August 10, 2018 that it had been approved. The plan includes boring two holes from the road surface into the upper level and lower level of the fifth chamber and filling both with flowable concrete. This will provide stability for the roadway and utilities as well as protect the aquifer from potential contamination associated with utility reconstruction. The original remediation work can be conducted concurrently while the fifth chamber is being filled. Work is expected to resume next week.
