Tree of Angels Ceremony Dec. 6
A special Tree of Angels ceremony will be held in the 26th District Courtroom at the historic courthouse, 710 S Main St, Georgetown, on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. Families and friends of a victim and survivors of a violent crime are invited to bring an ornament to place on this special tree to honor victims of violent crime.
County Offices Closed for Thanksgiving
Williamson County offices will be closed on Thursday, November 23, and Friday, November 24, for the Thanksgiving holiday. County offices will resume operations on Monday, November 27, 2017. The Commissioners Court meeting that is usually held on Tuesdays will not be held on November 28. The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) will close on Thanksgiving Day, but will be open to serve the needs of the public on Friday, November 24, during their regular business hours.
Parks Master Plan Needs Your Input
Williamson County is updating its Comprehensive Parks Master Plan and is seeking input from the public. The first Comprehensive Park Master Plan was created in 2001 and was last updated in 2008. The plan helps set priorities for all county parks, trails, open spaces, nature preserves and natural areas and assists the county in obtaining grants. To take the survey, click this link.
Lighting of the Square Nov. 24
Celebrate the holiday season on the day after Thanksgiving at the annual Lighting of the Square event on Friday, November 24, 2017. The event will be held on the east steps of the historic Williamson County Courthouse, 710 S. Main Street, in downtown Georgetown. The festivities include entertainment from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Williamson County Brown Santa will offer pictures with Santa for a $10 donation in the historic Courthouse after the lighting event from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Enter the courthouse on the south side.
Tax Statements to be Mailed the Week of October 16, 2017
Property Tax statements will be mailed the week of October 16, 2017, according to Williamson County Tax Assessor/Collector Larry Gaddes. The County Tax Assessor/Collector's Office sends out tax bills on behalf of over 100 taxing entities in Williamson County. If your taxes are escrowed, the statement will be mailed to your lender. Taxes may be paid by mail, online at www.wilco.org/propertytax/ or in person at any of the four tax office locations in Williamson County.
