About Emergency Communications

Williamson County Emergency Communications is an autonomous department within county government.  The department began as a unit within the Sheriff's Office.  Following a re-organization in 1996, it became a separate agency.  Today, the department provides 911 telephone services to nearly 400,000 citizens in Central Texas.  As a consolidated 911 Center, WCEC dispatches over 30 public safety agencies  to over 150,000 emergency and non-emergency calls per year.  Utilizing CAD and a new Motorola P25 digital 800 MHz radio system, WCEC is able to provide quality dispatching services to all of our customers.  In support of complex field operations, the department also deploys and operates several mobile assets to local, regional, and state emergencies such as wildfires, tornadoes, and hurricanes.

The 911 Center serves as the support for Emergency Management, Fire Services, and Law Enforcement agencies during times of crisis or complex operations.
