On Monday, August 10, 2009 at 8:30 a.m., Williamson County Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey and the city of Jarrell celebrated the grand opening of C. Bud Stockton Loop at the intersection of FM 487 and C. Bud Stockton Loop by the Jarrell High School. C. Bud Stockton Loop was formerly known as CR 313 West before the name was changed by the city of Jarrell in honor of local businessman and landowner C. Bud Stockton.
Construction of C. Bud Stockton Loop began in January and took seven months to complete. The road was designed and built by the County’s Unified Road System department. The length of the road is about 8/10 of a mile and it runs between the southbound frontage road of IH 35 at the Corn Hill overpass and continues west and north to FM 487 at the east side of the high school. It is a 40-foot wide two-lane roadway that provides left turn lanes at intersections with CR 309, CR 370 and FM 487. As part of the project CR 370 was realigned to provide a “T” intersection into the new roadway.
