New Board Members Join Brown Santa - Thursday, February 02, 2012Two new board members have been appointed to the Williamson County Brown Santa Board of Directors. Captain Mike Gleason of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is the new Board President. Joining him for a first term is Lieutenant Pat Erickson, also with the Sheriff’s Office. Continuing on the Board for another term are Peggy Braun and Tammy Smith. They join Donna Colburn, Chris Herndon, Pat Cardona and Robert Chody. The remaining board position will be filled by a member of Williamson County Emergency Communications.
In 2011, Brown Santa assisted more than 500 families and approximately 1,600 children this year. Brown Santa collects toys and donations for children who live at or under the US poverty level in unincorporated areas of the county or in cities that do not have a similar program.
Williamson County Brown Santa will host its annual Volunteer and Sponsor Appreciation Breakfast on Wednesday, February 15, at 9 a.m. in the Harrell Community Room at the J.B. and Hallie Jester Annex, 1801 E. Old Settlers Boulevard in Round Rock. Brown Santa Assists 500 Families - Friday, January 06, 2012Williamson County Brown Santa made Christmas brighter for more than 500 families and approximately 1,600 children this year. Brown Santa collects toys and donations for children who live at or under the US poverty level in unincorporated areas of the county or in cities that do not have a similar program.
“We were very thankful to have had enough donations that we were able to give at least two toys, a book and stuffed animal to each child along with a gift card to purchase food for each family’s Christmas dinner,” stated Captain Fred Thomas, chair of the Williamson County Brown Santa Board of Directors.

Haunted House Raises $17,000 - Thursday, September 22, 2011 This year’s “Nightmare on Jail Hill” haunted house was even more successful than last year’s event raising almost $17,000 for the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Brown Santa Program, an increase of more than $3,000. The money is used to assist them in purchasing presents for needy children this Christmas holiday.
“Last year, we helped 800 families and more than 2,000 children,” stated Captain Fred Thomas, president of the Brown Santa Board of Directors. “These funds will help us to meet the growing needs of our county so that every child feels the hope and love that Christmas brings.”
Several county departments and others assisted with the haunted jail by decorating cells and volunteering at the haunted house. Trophies were awarded for the most creative cell from the volunteers participating. The county department with the most creative cell was Williamson County Juvenile Medical Health Care Services. The non-county group with the most creative cell was Lee and Marilyn Bankston for the jail graveyard.
Williamson County Brown Santa assists families living in unincorporated areas of the county or in cities that do not have a similar program. They provide each participating family with two gifts and a stuffed toy per child. To be eligible for the program, families must be living at or below the U.S. Poverty level or have extenuating circumstances within the family that have caused substantial inconvenience to be able to provide for basic necessities over the past year.
Williamson County Brown Santa is a registered corporation in the State of Texas that is operated under the direction of the Brown Santa Board of Directors and was granted non-profit tax exemption under 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
