SH 29 Safety/Mobility Task Force Named - Friday, October 03, 2008
Commissioners Cynthia Long, Precinct 2, and Valerie Covey, Precinct 3, today announced the formation of a community-based SH 29 Safety/Mobility Task Force. The Task Force is part of the SH 29 highway study plan announced on September 3 to proactively address safety and mobility issues on SH 29. 
The Task Force members are:

Interim-Chief Clay Shell – Georgetown Fire Department

Ribbon Cutting held for RM 620 Improvements - Friday, September 05, 2008
Several safety and mobility improvements have been completed on RM 620, which handles between 35,000 and 38,000 cars on average per day. Right turn lanes were added on RM 620 at the intersections with Wyoming Springs, Oaklands and Deepwood. In addition, pedestrian crossings were improved to enhance safety and increase ADA accessibility at the intersections of O’Connor and Luckenwald, Liberty Walk and Manheim. Halff Associates was the engineer for the project and Aaron Concrete was the contractor. The road improvements cost approximately $780,000.
 
 


Ribbon Cutting held for Limmer Loop - Friday, September 05, 2008
The final phase of Limmer Loop is complete and a ribbon cutting was held October 2. Limmer Loop 1C runs from CR 110 to SH 130, a length of 1.2 miles. It is a two-lane undivided road with shoulders. Construction began in April 2008 and the project completed two months ahead of schedule.  The contractor was J.C. Evans Construction, and the project engineer was Pate Engineers. The total length of Limmer Loop for all three phases from Mager Lane to CR 110 is 6.8 miles, and total construction cost was $7.7 million. 
 
 


Ribbon Cutting for Turnaround Bridges at IH-35 and SH 29 - Friday, August 22, 2008
Williamson County and TxDOT are proud to hold the ribbon cutting for the first Pass-Through Financing project in the State of Texas to be completed. The ribbon cutting for the turnaround bridges at Interstate 35 and State Highway 29 will be held Tuesday, August 26, at 8:30 a.m. on the southbound turnaround bridge. The Pass-Through Financing program allows counties to begin construction on TxDOT roads and the state reimburses the county for almost 90% of the cost based on the number of cars traveling on the improved road.

Road equipment and personnelIn 2000, Williamson County voters passed a $350 million road bond package. Those bonds paid for the first phase of the county’s multi-corridor transportation plan. More than 70 road projects were completed including $150 million for state roads SH 45, SH 130, 183-A and Loop 1.
