The Texas Transportation Commission has approved a $523,000 grant to fund construction of a $653,000 pedestrian bridge over South Brushy Creek near the 183A toll road. The bridge will provide a vital link between the 183A Shared Use Path, which is under construction and the South Brushy Creek Regional Trail.
Williamson County submitted the grant with support from the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, the City of Austin and the City of Cedar Park. Williamson County and the Mobility Authority each committed $65,000 in matching funds to secure the grant. The Mobility Authority will handle design and construction of the bridge. Once completed, the bridge will become part of an extensive regional trail network that is being developed in Williamson and Travis Counties. When complete the 183A Shared Use Path will extend from South Brushy Creek north approximately 12 miles along the 183A toll road.
The Brushy Creek Regional Trail extends from approximately one mile east of Great Oaks Drive west to Twin Lakes Park at Highway 183, a total of 6.75 miles. Parks located along the trail include Creekside Park, Olsen Meadows Park, Champion Park, Brushy Creek lake Park, Brushy Creek Sports Park and Twin Lakes Park.
