Members of the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade Headquarters Company, Fort Hood, Texas, were adopted by Williamson County in 2007. As a result, the following year a successful drive to collect supplies for our soldiers serving at Camp Taji, Iraq, was conducted. Once again, local officials have received notice of the brigade’s early summer deployment to Afghanistan and have begun efforts to collect supplies for them.
Facilities and conditions in Afghanistan dictate the need for specific everyday items that will greatly benefit our soldiers while they are away from home. All items must be unopened and in their original container. Regular sized portions are recommended.  Suggested items include:
                Liquid Bath Soap
                Shampoo
                Conditioner
                Lotion
                Hand Sanitizer
                Eye Drops
Toothpaste and toothbrushes (In original packaging)
                Deodorant/Antiperspirant
                Dental Floss
                Mouthwash
                Feminine Hygiene Products
                AA Batteries
                Magazines

Donation boxes have been placed at these locations in Williamson County until Friday, April 30: In Georgetown, at the Williamson County Courthouse, 710 Main St.;  Georgetown Tax Office, 904 S. Main; Inner Loop Annex, 301 SE Inner Loop; Unified Road System, 3151 SE Inner Loop, Suite B; and the Williamson County Justice Center, 405 Martin Luther King. Donations may also be taken to the office of Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey, located at 3010 Williams Drive, Suite 153, Georgetown, Texas.   Other boxes are located in Cedar Park at the Cedar Park Annex, 350 Discovery Blvd., in Taylor at the Veteran's Services Office, 412 Vance; in Hutto at Commissioner Ron Morrison's Office, 350 Exchange Blvd., and in Round Rock at the Round Rock Annex, 211 Commerce Cove.
