Williamson County Emergency Medical Services in conjunction with the Texans In Motions-Kids In Safety Seats Project will be sponsoring a car seat safety event for area residents on Thursday, March 25. Parents are encouraged to have their child’s safety seat checked by a certified technician at this time.
The seat safety check opportunity is available by reservation only from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Georgetown Courthouse parking garage located at 3rd and Rock Street. Children will need to be with the parent or other adult caregiver during the inspection. If the car seat is found to be too old, or not meeting child safety seat standards, it may need to be replaced.
During a February 26 safety event 23 seats were checked, during which corrections to 17 seats were made and 6 new seats were provided, at no cost to the participants. Funding for the project is provided, in part, by the Texas Department of Transportation.
Members of the certification teams plan to offer the safety checks on a regular basis. To make an appointment for the March 25 event, please call 512-943-1264.
