Governor Extends Order Declaring Disaster
On June 15, Texas Governor Rick Perry approved Williamson County’s request for an extension of the restrictions contained in the disaster declaration for Williamson County. The extension approved by Governor Perry prohibits the sale and use of fireworks in Williamson County through 7 a.m. on July 5.

Public Input Needed for Events Center Improvement
Williamson County will hold two public meetings to receive input on programming needs for improvements to the East Williamson County Events Center on Wednesday, June 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Williamson County Courthouse, 710 S. Main Street, Georgetown, in the Commissioners Courtroom on the second floor.

Summer History Explorers’ Camp – Centennial Courthouse 1911
There are still a few spaces left for the Explorers’ Camp. The Williamson Museum is taking kids back in time this summer to “
Life in 1911” during Summer History Explorers’ Camp. This summer camp celebrates the Courthouse Centennial and the year the historic Williamson County Courthouse first opened. The camp is open to children from third through sixth grades. Session 1 is July 18 to 22 and Session 2 is July 25 to 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The daily cost is $15 or the entire week is $75 and includes lunch, snacks and all supplies. For more information

Child Safety Seat Inspection Set for June 30
A pre-holiday child safety seat inspection is scheduled, by appointment only, for June 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Leander Central Fire Station located at 201 North Brushy. Certified technicians from the Leander Fire Department and the Williamson County EMS will be on hand to inspect child safety seats.

Input Sought on New Precinct Boundaries
A draft of the new Williamson County commissioner, justice of the peace and constable precinct lines has been created and will be available for the public to review and provide comments from May 24 to June 21, 2011. Due to a 69% population increase since 2000, Williamson County must redraw its precinct boundaries. To review online, please go to

Donations Sought to Support Medical Emergency Fund at WCRAS
The Central Texas shelter with the highest save rate in the state, the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, is looking to area residents and businesses to help replenish its Emergency Medical Fund. In the past two weeks, the number of animals requiring surgery due to injuries sustained before entering the shelter has increased 80%. These excessive demands prompting emergency treatment have nearly depleted the shelter’s funds retained for such purposes.
