Learn to Fish Day Planned for August 28
Williamson County is hosting its own Learn to Fish event in the Southwest Regional Park, 3005 CR 175, in Leander on Saturday, August 28, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children, between the recommended ages of 4 through 14 years, will be able to spend time learning various fishing tips and techniques from local experts. Groundbreaking for CR 104 Phase 2 Improvements will be August 20
On Friday, August 20, at 9:30 a.m., Commissioner Valerie Covey will celebrate the groundbreaking for CR 104 Phase 2 improvements. Improvements include reconstruction of CR 104 to accommodate two driving lanes with a center turn lane and shoulders, and reconstruction of two bridges.
August 26 set for Car Seat Safety Check
Williamson County Emergency Medical Services in conjunction with the Texans In Motion-Kids In Safety Seats Project will be sponsoring a car seat safety event for area residents on Thursday, August 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the County parking garage located at Third and Rock streets. Mourning Dove Lane Road Closure Announced
Mourning Dove Lane, one of the entrances to the Summerlyn subdivision, will be closed at US 183 starting August 16 for approximately three weeks. Traffic will be detoured to take CR 263 or Whitewing Drive to US 183. More…
$25 Adoption Rates Honored for Homeless Animals Day
The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS) recognizes August 21 as International Homeless Animal Day. Organizations around the world come together on the third Saturday of August to raise awareness about the pet overpopulation epidemic. All adoptions on this day are reduced to $25. More…
Sam Bass Road Closure Scheduled
A temporary road closure and detour route for Sam Bass Road between Great Oaks Drive and Walsh Ranch Parkway is scheduled to begin August 16 to 20 and be completed before the start of school on August 23. The road will be closed for the construction of a culvert under Sam Bass Road to make improvements to drainage and flooding issues. More…
Vern’s No Frills 5k Run or Walk on Saturday, August 21
Berry Springs Park and Preserve is the site for the August 21 Vern’s No Frills 5k race, beginning at 8 a.m. The race is free to all K-12 students and will cost $1 for adults to enter. The race is part of a series, held every 3rd Saturday through the summer. At the end of the year, minus any costs, the proceeds will be given to Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department. Sponsors for the popular race series include Georgetown Running Club, Williamson County Parks and Recreation, and Run-Tex. Local residents are invited to submit photo imagery of their favorite scenic or action shots taken in any Williamson County park or recreation facility. This project was started in July for National Parks and Recreation Month, but is being extended to give more people the opportunity to participate. More…
Upcoming Events at the Williamson Museum
The popular Gault Site archeological tour will begin on site at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 28. Fee is only $10, with tickets available at the Williamson Museum. Additionally, volunteers are needed for the Up the Chisholm Trail Cattle Drive and Chuck Wagon Cook-off 2010 event on Saturday, September 18. This volunteer opportunity is great for all ages! Williamson County Animal Shelter Promotes Gala Dinner Benefit
Tickets are now available for the first annual Denim and Diamonds Fur Ball, benefiting the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter. The event will be held on Saturday, October 16, from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Marriott North in La Frontera. The ball will feature dinner, dancing and a silent auction. Tickets are $75 each. More…
