Williamson County Offices Closed for 4th of July Holiday  

In observance of the upcoming 4th of July Independence Day holiday, Williamson County offices will be closed on Monday, July 5, and resume normal business hours on Tuesday, July 6, at 8:00 a.m.  In addition, the Commissioners Court will not meet on Tuesday, July 6, and will resume their regular schedule on Tuesday, July 13, at 9:30 a.m.

July is Park and Recreation Month

July is recognized nationally as Park and Recreation Month. The theme: “Celebrate, Advocate, Recreate!” can best be portrayed through photo imagery. The plan:  Take pictures in any County park or recreation facility, and post the images on all of your favorite social media sites with "July is Park and Recreation Month!" in the header. More…

Brown Santa “Christmas in July” Family Fair and Fun Run July 10

Sign up online for the 5th Annual Brown Santa “Christmas in July” Family Fair and Fun Run/Walk event. The Kids’ K Run for children 12 and younger will begin at 8 a.m. The Family Fun 5K Run/ Walk will begin at 8:30 a.m. All events, including law enforcement exhibits and fun family activities, will take place Saturday, July 10,  from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Williamson County Southwest Regional Park located at 3005 CR 175, just north of FM 1431. More…

Ross Named New Director at the Williamson Museum

Mickie Ross has been promoted to executive director of the Williamson Museum. After conducting a nationwide search to fill the position, Mike Martin, president of the Museum's Board of Directors, announced the appointment of Ross to replace former Director Chris Dyer. The board was unanimous in its support for Mickie, citing her thorough knowledge of the Museum and the Williamson County community it serves.
 
July Ribbon Cuttings for Improved Emergency Services

On Wednesday, July 7, a ribbon cutting will be held at 10:30 a.m. for the recently completed Williamson County ESD #1 Fire Station expansion. The expansion of the Jollyville operation was deemed necessary to improve response times for a growing resident base. On Thursday, July 8, a ribbon cutting will be held at 10 a.m. for the relocation of Medic 12 station. The new station will better serve residents in the eastern Round Rock and western Hutto regions.   Medic 12 is now located at 3800 County Road 123.
 

July Activities at the Williamson Museum are Heating Up

Come meet the museum’s new director, Mickie Ross, at the First Friday event, held on July 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. The Museum's exhibit: Recuerdos: Images from Williamson County's Hispanic-American Community will be on display. On Wednesday, July 14, Carolyn Jackson, author and former TV personality, and Elizabeth Hansen, education and outreach coordinator with the Texas Archive of the Moving Image, will present: “We Interrupt this Program: A Woman Pioneer in Broadcasting Shares Her Story” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at The Salon at Wildfire's Backroom. Saturday, July 10, the Hands-On History activity will be “Summer Fun” held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The Books for Texans Club will discuss "The Men Who Wore the Star: The Story of the Texas Rangersby Charles M. Robinson III, on Tuesday, July 20, beginning at 7 p.m., in the Hewlett Room of the Georgetown Public Library. The Summer History Explorers' Camp is still taking reservations for the July 19 through 23 or July 26 through 30 programs.  For more information, contact the Museum at 512-943-1670 or visit www.williamsonmuseum.org.

Animal Shelter Invites You to Yappy Hour

The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter announces Yappy Hour adoptions every Tuesday and Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m. through July. All Yappy Hour adoptions will be offered at half price, two animals for the price of one! Just in case you miss the Yappy Hours, dogs will be offered for a reduced rate of only $50 during the month of July as a special “Dog Days of Summer” promotion.   Other special need dogs and those who have been residents longer than one month have further reductions. It’s a great time to bring a wonderful pet into your life this month.

Texas AgriLife Workshop Offered July 14

The Williamson County Office of Texas AgriLife Extension Service will be hosting a FAMACHA Workshop at the Georgetown Show Barn on July 14 from 9 to 11 a.m. Dr. Frank Craddock, extension sheep and goat specialist, will discuss the FAMACHA method to identifying anemic/parasite infested small ruminants. The cost of the program will be $15. Save the Date for Learn to Fish Day

Williamson County Southwest Regional Park
is the place; Saturday, August 28, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. is the time. Share the enjoyment of fishing with a child at the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department’s “Learn to Fish” Day. Spend the day learning techniques and sharing fishing tips. Rods and tackle for this catch and release event will be provided. Learn to Fish Day is free and open to the public.
